Buying a birthday gift for the golf fanatic of the family has never been an easy task. The possibilities seem endless, a new piece of golf equipment, the latest golf training aid, a box of golf balls, or perhaps even a golf lesson? Who knew buying a birthday gift for a golfer could be so complicated!

Old Standby - A Box of Golf Balls

The traditional Father’s Day gift for the golfing dad seems to be a box of his favorite golf balls. This would make for a fine golf birthday gift as well. Be sure to find out his favorite brand or type of golf ball and head on down to your local golf shop to pickup a dozen. If he does not use a specific brand, or you want to keep it a surprise, the major sport chain retailers generally have several brands of golf balls on sale. If your golf birthday boy or girl is a new player, try finding some low spin golf balls. Golf balls can cost you anywhere from $10 a dozen on up to $45. Unless your gift recipient plays golf several times a week, stick in the $10-$20 range.

Another Option - Golf Teaching Tools

There seems to be a new golf teaching tool or golf training aid on the market every other week. The Whippy Tempomaster is an amusing golf teaching tool at first sight, but is extremely effective at teaching a golfer about the tempo of a golf swing. You can find this particular golf teaching tool on eBay in the $75 range. The Swing Setter by David Leadbetter is a popular piece of equipment that is actually used by several professional golfers, Michelle Wie included. The Swing Setter will set you back $85 on eBay or $130 in retail stores. Another, less expensive option is a golf impact bag. For about $35 your birthday boy can whack away at a heavy bag, learning the correct position and feel at the moment of impact. Any of these options would make a wonderful birthday gift for your golfer.

Wise Decision - Golf Lessons

Unless the person you are buying this golf birthday gift for is a scratch golfer, a golf lesson is always a wonderful idea. Local golf courses, country clubs and driving ranges will often sell single lessons or packages of lessons both to the individual and as a certificate that you could use as the golf birthday gift. A golf lesson from a respectable local professional should cost you anywhere from $50-$100. The birthday boy or girl may not be as excited initiallybut they will be thanking you down the road!

Simple Idea - Golf Impact Indicators

Golf Impact Indicators are pieces of tape or sometimes calls golf dust that can be applied to the club face at the driving range or practice range. This will let your golf birthday gift recipient know where they are hitting the ball. This can run from about $5 for impact tape to $15 for a can of golf dust. You may have a hard time finding this in a local store, check it out online.

Now that you have a better idea of the options out there for your golf birthday gift, you can be confident that your purchase will make your golfer happy on his or her birthday!

Most of us who have started an online website have experienced disappointment of some shape or form during our promotion. The first time your new website goes live, expectations are usually high but it doesn’t take long to discover not many people are beating down the door. So, is it possible to purchase traffic in a meaningful way to guarantee Internet success? Here’s a personal account of my experiences marketing online.

With countless services promising they can deliver high quality, targeted traffic to your websitefor a price of course. Do they work? The obvious answer is that some do and some don’t and, as you expand your promotional plans, you are bound to experience both scenarios. They key is not be discouraged when you encounter an idea that does not work.

One example is the press release. Many online sites accept press releases, sometimes for a fee and sometimes for free. The key is to make sure you have a newsworthy story and don’t expect to submit a press release every day and get the same exposure. For example, the first press release we sent out for DateAGolfer.com receives a lot of great exposure. It was included on Yahoo News, and as a result our hits went from virtually nothing to 1100 unique visitors a day. Needless to say, we thought this was going to be easy but the key here was that we had a unique idea that caught the attention of some media. As with most things though, our hits quickly dropped off as we became yesterday’s news and life goes on.

One of the most popular options on the Internet is pay-per-click advertising. Search engines like Google and Yahoo offer reasonably priced text ads based on the keywords searchers use to find things online. By bidding on keywords, the idea is that people who are looking for what you offer are the ones who will see your ad. The most popular keywords are usually the most expensive and you need to track what you are spending and balance that with what you earn from your ad campaign.

Another option is purchased pure traffic. This usually works by having a site drive a guaranteed number of unique visitors to your site and this is done in most cases through redirecting traffic from parked domain names. For example, if the theme you choose is golf and a visitor goes to a golf domain that is not being used, they can be redirected to your site. While the sellers of this service claim this is highly targeted traffic, it usually results in visitors who did not want to go to your site in the first place and quickly move on. In our experience, this is a complete waste of money although they do deliver the visitors they promise and your hit counter will quickly rise.

So can you buy your way to Internet glory? You probably can if you have deep enough pockets. For the rest of us, it takes a lot of hard, persistent work. The more you get your name out there, the better. If you can do something each and every day, you can get to the promised land. Just keep at it.

For a sport that is notoriously reputed to be very expensive sport to participate in, a game of golf surprisingly requires the least amount of golf equipment to play. That’s saying basically about the game, since there are those who can do fairly well with just one golf club, only modifying the power and direction of the swing. What makes a golf game relatively expensive instead are those aside.

Golf Clubs

Golf equipment first and foremost needs a golf club. Golf isn’t a game where equipments can be shared comfortably, so individual golf clubs are of utmost importance. There are four basic categories for golf clubs and they are woods, hybrids, irons, and putters.

Woods - these clubs are the longest, with shafts that measure 40-47 inches, having large heads with spherical shape. Woods are often referred as driver and are most ideal in hitting off the tee, or on situations requiring definitive carries or drives.

Irons - irons are the most versatile golf clubs, some players even make do on a golf game using only an iron. They are shorter than the woods, around 36-40 inches on the shaft. They offer clubbing with relative skill in contrast to the woods which requires a good amount of precision.

Wedges - these clubs are actually referred as irons though having a loft (angle which the clubface tilt) of more than 44 earned them a special category other than irons. Wedges are also customized to meet several factors. One such example is the sand wedge with specialized underside with a “bounce” feature.

Putters - putters are clubs used on the green. They have a very low loft and some has even shorter shafts that would complement precision and deft touch. These clubs are ideal for finishes on the green.

Golfers are allowed to carry 14 different kinds of golf clubs during play, and the typical set of 14 usually consists of 8 irons, 3 woods, 2 wedges, and a putter.

Golf Balls

Golf balls are 42.67mm standard diameter mostly of synthetic materials construction. One notable feature of golf balls are the dimples, an aerodynamic function that will affect several factors including trajectory, spin and feel. Some makes are generated to result a desired outcome, such as harder materials to result longer distance, or softer ones to allow more spin.

There are other golf equipments on the use but those mentioned above are the most required to get a game going. Other golf equipment includes Golf Bags, Golf Carts, Golf Cleats, Golf Tees, and Golf Ball markers.
